Rudy Castellani, MD Named Director of Neuropathology Core

Rudy-Castellani.jpgThe Mesulam Center for Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease is pleased to announce that Rudy Castellani, MD, has been named Director of the Neuropathology Core at the Mesulam Center, effective February 1. He replaces Maggie Flanagan, MD, who served in the role since 2019.

Castellani began a full-time appointment as a neuropathology professor in the Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine Department of Pathology in September 2021 and has served as the associate director of the Neuropath Core since November 2022.

He received his MD from Wayne State University, where he completed an anatomic pathology residency. He also completed a neuropathology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University. He was formerly a tenured professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Medicine, and has directed neuropathology divisions at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine, and West Virginia University.
