Early Stage Support Group

For Persons with Alzheimer’s Disease or a Related Illness and Their Family and Friends

If you or someone you love is experiencing memory loss, you may want to consider attending the CNADC Early Stage Support Group Program.

This program serves both persons experiencing memory loss and related changes in thinking and behavior along with their family members or friends. Those who are memory-impaired must be in the early stages of their condition, be aware of the changes they are experiencing and be willing to talk about these changes with others. The program is $150/person per 12-week session.

Topics covered throughout the course of these groups are:

° An overview of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias
° Current medical treatment and research; coping with memory loss
° Changing relationships
° Daily living skills
° Self-esteem
° Coping with stress
° General health considerations
° Legal and financial planning
° Planning for the future

An interview is required in order to register for the program. Please contact Darby Morhardt, MSW, LCSW for more information about the program and participation criteria at 312-908-9432 or by e-mail at d-morhardt@northwestern.edu.
