MEMORY PROBLEMS: WHAT CAN BE DONE

This is a very basic outline of dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease, and what help is available to persons with memory problems and their families.  This document is very important because it stresses the difference between normal aging and dementia.

ASSESSING MEMORY PROBLEMS

This is an excellent overview of what to expect from a memory evaluation. It also includes a useful questionnaire that families can fill out in order to help the doctor understand what kinds of problems the patient has been experiencing.

This is a story showing the importance of seeking help for memory problems.

HOW TO RESPOND TO DIFFICULT BEHAVIOR

This contains crucial information for the caregiver and other family members regarding how to treat someone with AD. It points out difficult behavior can be an effect of the disease even if the person is doing the best that they can. It gives suggestions for how to best communicate with the person and the various behavioral effects of the disease.

SHOWING RESPECT

(Chinese, English, Korean, Polish, Russian and Spanish)

This sheet goes along with the previous one and provides examples of how to communicate with the patient who is experiencing memory problems.
